CO2 footprint

The CO₂ footprint is a key figure that indicates the amount of greenhouse gas emissions generated by activities of the company, an organization or an individual. Business and production processes as well as products create CO₂ footprints through manufacturing, resource utilization and waste. The CO₂ footprint supports the objective of sustainability management and counts as an important element of the corporate strategy for climate and resource protection.

The unit of the carbon footprint is expressed in CO₂-equivalents (CO₂e). In addition, five other greenhouse gases are taken into account:

  • Methane (CH4)
  • Nitrous oxide (N2O)
  • Sulfur hexafluoride (SF6)
  • Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs)
  • Perfluorocarbons (PFCs)
  • Nitrogen trifluoride (NF3)
